Shameless self-promotion!

Updating to add my current pricing sheet for RPG adjacent work.

I’ve made an itch.io page! Right now, it only has my silly entry for Jared Sinclair’s #WSCAJam, “What’s So Funny-Looking About My Dog?” I’ll be publishing my big project Small Town Gothic here, with the player/referee gamesheet and the compendium (I would publish them separately, but I don’t know if that’s good practice).

I am new to tabletop. Began a blog to document my learning by solo play (Basic Fantasy RPG), art, and One Page Dungeons: https://perplexingruins.blogspot.com/. Always grateful for constructive feedback. Thanks!

Retrospective: Mythic Beings, a revisit of one of my oldest blog posts.

I have also started a Weird & Wonderful Worlds Megathread here on the OSR discourse so I have my own space to share my blog posts and potentially have discussions, without spamming the discourse with endless threads.

Following slugs and silver’s “30 years of gaming characters” and Throne of salt’s “all my other characters” examples, I’ve written a long post on my roleplaying history and the characters i played…

I gave it it’s own thread because I am extra shameless but also here is my submission to the eclectic bastionjam: Maximum Recursion Depth, or Sometimes the Only Way to Win is to Stop Playing: The Karmapunk RPG

I threw together a one page rpg inspired by Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy for a one page rpg game jam over on itch: https://itch.io/jam/one-page-rpg-jam-2020

There’s still plenty of time to submit if anyone is interested! Seems like a cool exercise if nothing else.

Here’s a link to my entry: The Evening Redness in the West

Would love to hear any thoughts. Thanks!

Normally I leave my shameless self-promotion solely in the Weird & Wonderful Worlds Megathread but this time I’m promoting someone else’s work so I want to specifically call it out here as well.

I made a pre-RPG wargame about gladiator duels and mock naval battles in the Roman arena! I was thinking about how it was weird that there’s barely (if any) gameable material about gladiator fights because it seems like people like thinking about gladiators.

For one-on-one duels, each gladiator has 6 body parts that they use in battle and that they have to protect from fatal blows. These values are basically the attribute scores for the gladiator, and they can be used for contests against other gladiators by comparing scores (and adding a random factor if you prefer)!

It includes some useful charts about gladiators and ancient ships you could use outside of the mechanics of the game, and it would be pretty easy to extrapolate a proper RPG from the skeleton here! The game itself is called Bread & Circuses. I hope some of y’all find this interesting!

Just posted a short write up about Weird North, based on rolling up characters. Not a super in depth write up, but felt compelled to support a system that’s pretty cool.

I’ve started blogging about my Castle Xyntillan campaign, and the classic D&D rules kit-bash that I use to run it, over at vaguecountries.nl.

I have a blog of a few year’s vintage: https://worldbuildingandwoolgathering.blogspot.com.

To offer something timely, I just put a long-term project (Punth: A Primer) into something like a finished state. Here is the ‘capstone post’; here is the wider tag. No idea what you’ll make of it all, but I am braced for scrutiny.

This is extra shameless since it’s not even something I did per se, but the game I’ve been working on, Maximum Recursion Depth, received a shoutout on the blog DIY & Dragons :)!!!

Though I already placed this in my “corner” thought this would be an appropriate place. I released this pamphlet this week. It is traditional tri-fold with two inserts. Print 1-2 double sided short side Print 3-4 double sided long side Print 5-6 double sided long side. The inserts have guide lines for accurate cutting so they may rest inside pamphlet. Scenario: a random large tent appears overnight outside town. High price admission, becomes series of 8 randomly generated dimensional spheres within.
Appreciate any feedback, but otherwise I hope some folks enjoy it. After so much free and affordable content, this is my humble attempt to give back.
